Company Description
GenVec is a biopharmaceutical company developing novel gene-based therapeutic drugs and vaccines. GenVec's gene-based therapeutic product candidates use a common patent-protected technology platform to deliver genes that produce medically beneficial proteins directly at the site of disease. GenVec’s lone oncology focused product, TNFerade™, is under Phase III trial for first-line treatment for advanced pancreatic cancer. GenVec is also testing TNFerade™ biologic for the treatment of various types of cancer, including head and neck cancer, esophageal cancer, and rectal cancer. GenVec also uses its available technology to produce vaccines for the treatment of infectious diseases, such as malaria, HIV, and foot-and-mouth disease. GenVec was founded in 1992.
